Biosymmetry is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance payments for any services. We will, however, provide you with a statement of services and fees paid which will be properly documented with appropriate diagnosis, laboratory, and procedure codes. This often will suffice for insurance reimbursement, and if not, should certainly apply toward a deductible or flexible spending account.

Patients cannot file any claims with Medicare because we have “opted out” of Medicare.

Every one of our patients needs lab work, and is scheduled before or after their initial consultation with our physician. During the initial consultation, one of our physicians will spend about 30 minutes going over your past medical history, discuss your hormone related symptoms, general health and wellness and treatment options. Treatment may begin the day you have your consultation with the physician.
We require an annual visit for patients on our BHRT program. Anytime during treatment, an appointment can be made with one of our providers. We offer phone consultations if it is too inconvenient to come into the office.

We require a monthly visit for our weight loss patients.

Dr. Pate is a board certified obesity medicine doctor and one of only 16 in North Carolina; the only one in southeast North Carolina He is also board certified in family medicine. Seeing a medical doctor is important when dealing with obesity. Obesity is a disease; you don’t get over obesity. You can learn to control the disease with diet, exercise and when needed, medication. A medical doctor can evaluate lab work, medications you currently take and other medical conditions you may have to determine the safest long term plan for you. Some patients may be experiencing obesity through simple nutritional mistakes, but patients that have been fighting obesity for an extended period, may have other conditions preventing weight loss or maintaining weight loss.
This question greatly depends on the individual and method of treatment chosen. Some patients feel the effects in a matter of weeks, others in the first few months.
There are very few side effects associated with BHRT and the potential ones are classically linked to dosage. If you are experiencing any negative side effects after starting medication, give us a call and ask for one of our nurses to discuss the issues you are having. After the conversation, we should be able to balance your hormones properly and all side effects will usually disappear.
It has been shown that hormones may actually reduce the risk of some cancers and other chronic diseases. Research to make informed decisions about your health.

SculpSureGood question!

    • SculpSure™ is the very first FDA cleared, non-invasive laser platform for permanent fat reduction.
    • SculpSure™ works by heating up the fat cells above a threshold temperature to which they are no longer viable. The body then clears away the damaged fat cells on its own.
    • SculpSure™ utilizes cooling plates to keep the skin cool and comfortable while the heat is concentrated and delivered right into the fat.
    • As SculpSure™ is completely non-invasive, there is no downtime, and no need for any type of anesthesia.

SculpSure-infographicA whole lot!

First off, it is worth mentioning that the results from both Sculpsure™ and CoolSculpting™ are about the same. You can expect a 20-25% improvement in the treated area with either procedure. On average it takes 4 sculpsure applicators or 4 coolsculpting applicators to treat an abdomen, so it is fairly easy to compare technologies

    • TIME DIFFERENCE: Whereas CoolSculpting™ takes on average 1 hour per applicator, to treat an abdomen with 4 applicators it would take 4 hours. With SculpSure™ the same area with 4 abdominal applicators can run in just 25 minutes. Similarly, treating the love handles with CoolSculpting can take 4 hours if using 2 cool-curve applicators on each side, whereas with SculpSure both love handle can be treated simultaneously in just 25 minutes.
    • PRICE DIFFERENCE: SculpSure™ system is so much more time efficient. We charge per treatment area for SculpSure™, whereas with CoolSculpting each applicator typically costs $600 and up!
    • COMFORT: With SculpSure™ there is no suction or end of procedure massage – the two most uncomfortable parts of the CoolSculpting™ procedure.
    • TIME TO RESULTS: Results come a little sooner with SculpSure™ than with CoolSculpting™ (6wks-3mo vs 2-4mo).
    • SIDE EFFECTS: Periodic pains and numbness up to weeks-months has been reported with CoolSculpting™ whereas there has been no reported side effects from SculpSure™. In addition bruising is not uncommon from CoolSculpting™’s suction applicators.
  • Super-Fast treatment time
  • Easily tolerated
  • Cost effective
  • Completely non-invasive
  • Permanent results without surgery
  • No-vacuum or “stick of butter” as with CoolSculpting™
  • Versatile applicators allow for treating many areas.
  • Thermal spread creates treatment areas slightly larger than applicator size, and also helps blend treatment to adjacent areas.
Results are permanent! You see, after we reach puberty fat cells are never gained or lost, but rather they expand and contract with respect to the amount of fat stored inside of them. When we remove fat cells with SculpSure, they are gone for good. Now if you go on a donut diet, you will still be able to accumulate more fat, however it will tend to deposit more readily in areas that were not treated with SculpSure™.
You can expect to see a 20-25% improvement in the area treated. What does this mean? Tuck you thumb behind the rest of your fingers and keep your other 4 fingers extended. Now if those 4 fingers represent the depth of the area treated, one cycle would remove about 1 fingers-worth. It’s not the best example but hopefully it helps. The point is, it’s a good procedure and often one treatment cycle is all that is needed, however it can be repeated after a couple of months to achieve even better results!
We can treat people who have had Coolsculpting™ before to either achieve a better result in a previously treated area, or to treat a brand new area. Sometimes CoolSculpting™ can lead to small untreated areas between treatment applicators (known as shark-bites). We also have had success treating these small areas with SculpSure™.
That’s a tough question. If the liposuction did not fully remove all of the fat in the area(s) treated, then yes, SculpSure can help. On the other hand, if there is really no fat left under the skin but it is the deep (visceral) fat causing the abdomen to enlarge, then unfortunately SculpSure is not the answer. It is best you come in for a consultation to see if we can recommend SculpSure™ to you or not.

Individual results may vary.
